Opposites Attract

It was completely by chance that my husband and I met. I was at a friend’s house, just a few doors down from mine. His new roommate came home from work one night, and his ride home that night decided to come in for a few minutes. The roommate, Jason, was a friend of mine from elementary school. His ride home from work ended up becoming my husband. That was 22 years ago!!!

The attraction was quite noticeable – I loved his Doc Martin work boots and he loved my ripped jeans. We spent the next week battling each other on Dr. Mario and probably drove everybody crazy with our trash talk. We were obviously flirting big time and also got quite competitive with that game…lol. Fast-forward two years, we became husband and wife and have been together ever since.

Looking back on over two decades together, it is amazing that the two of us made it through all that we have. We have gone through so many challenges together and our relationship grew stronger each and every time. We really are opposite in so many ways. He is spontaneous and impulsive. I am stable and stubborn. He needs to constantly be doing something. I love having the option to sit, relax, and do nothing. He procrastinates. I like to plan things out and get them done.

Nonetheless, the magnetism between us is an unbreakable bond. I can’t imagine life without him and I don’t want to ever find out what that would be like. (yep…scoring brownie points here) 😉

One-Month Follow-Up

Well, it’s been a month since I posted some thoughts on here.

Here are a few things I have figured out since May:

  1. I did decide to relaunch my Juice Plus business. It just doesn’t make sense to drop it when I know how great it is for my health and well-being. It is one of the only consistent things in my life that is actually helping me be a better version of me.
  2. I quit biting my nails!!! It’s been about a week and a half… a rough week and a half!! Really rough, but I’m getting through it.
  3. I have finally started to figure out where all my time goes. Now I’m starting to reconfigure my routine to fit in the things that are most important to me.

My next steps:

  1. Host some kind of Juice Plus event online and at my house. I’m thinking info session online and salad party at home.
  2. Cut down on my Pepsi intake some more. This is a big one…please pray for me. 😉
  3. Write more than once a month!!!
  4. Begin implementing simple changes to reach my health and weight goals.
  5. Work through all of our financial crap…more on that later.

There’s a lot to do but I am determined to get through it.

Under His Control

I am still here. I haven’t written anything in awhile, right? I’ve thought about it every single day! I have SO much stuff going on right now, and I can’t wrap my head around what I want to write…once I get a chance to sit down and write something. It’s very frustrating!!!

Nonetheless, I still want to let you know that something is coming. I don’t yet know what it is, but I’m sure praying over it!!! 🙂

Slightly Distracted

So the last time I posted anything was for my 31-day blog challenge and I was on Day 10. Yikes! That was in October! Sorry about that…I got completely distracted. Let’s see…my son got married and we had a lot of family here for the wedding. Since then, I’ve just been working and trying to get things ready for Christmas. Oh, and we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house too. It was yummy. 🙂

I will get back to my blogging challenge, but not today. After work tonight, I have a meeting at church and then my daughter and I need to go shopping for some Secret Santa gifts for our work Christmas party that is tomorrow night…right after work. I also have some training to do over the weekend and I’m leading the kids’ service on Sunday morning.

I’ll get back here eventually – I promise!

Day 7 – 10 Favorite Foods

The following foods have been my favorites for a long time. I don’t always to get to eat them. Some I choose not to eat because they’re not good for me. Nonetheless, they are my favorites (in no particular order).

Day 6 – 3 Personality Traits I am Proud of

This is going to be another quick post because I am two days behind on my bible study homework and we are meeting tonight…oops! (Not so proud of that…lol.) Also, I’m not going to continue to list the 31 Day blog challenge on each post. It just takes too much time linking everything. So, I’m going to just post away. 🙂

3 Personality Traits I am Proud of

  1. Listening – I’m really great at listening to others without just listening to respond. It doesn’t equate to remembering everything I’m told, but I do listening and try to empathize as best as I can.
  2. Caring – I try to help people when they need it. Sometimes that involves the first trait and other times it requires a little more time and effort. Either way, know that if I’m helping you with something it is because I care about you and want to help.
  3. Creative – I tend to enjoy a problem that needs solving, especially one in which all the normal avenues of resolution have been tried. I like to think outside of the box and sometimes my crazy ideas work out really well.

Well, that’s it for today. No I’m off to get some homework done!!

Day 2 – 20 Facts About Me

Yesterday, I began a 31-Day Blogging Challenge that a friend had posted on Facebook. I was able to incorporate the first day’s post within the weekly Discovery Challenge and I hope I can do the same with the Daily Prompts that pop up in my inbox everyday. Today’s Prompt actually works quite well…yay! (You can find the 31-Day blogging challenge list at the end of this post.)

Day 2 – 20 Facts About Me

  1. I am not clumsy. In fact, I absolutely love dancing and my balance and flexibility keep me on my feet just fine. I love all kinds of dance but I haven’t had any formal training so I just kinda freestyle it most of the time.
  2. I am a Florida native…born and raised in Sarasota County.
  3. I currently do not own any pets – our landlord won’t allow it. However, our backyard is like a swamp so we’ve “adopted” Roscoe the raccoon, Bob the bobcat, and many birds, squirrels, and tortoises.
  4. I am Detroit Red Wings fan. I’ve never been to Michigan but I love their hockey team. GO WINGS!!!
  5. My favorite color is white – always has been.
  6. I do not like clowns. I’m not afraid of them but they do creep me out.
  7. Seattle is my favorite city so far and I’ve been there five times. I can’t wait to go back again and I hope my family can go with me when I do.
  8. I’ve only been out of the U.S. once and that was to go on a Vision Trip with World Vision to the Dominican Republic. It was awesome and I got to meet my sponsor child!!
  9. I rarely wear make-up. I live in Florida so what’s the point really? It’s just going to melt of my face anyway.
  10. I love skinny jeans!
  11. I sponsor three children. My World Vision kids are in the Dominican Republic and South Africa. My other kiddo is also in the D.R. but I sponsor him through One Child Matters.

  13. I love American History, especially Revolutionary history.
  14. I was in the drama club in middle school. I was an orphan in Annie for 6th grade, part of the Lollipop Guild from the Wizard of Oz in 7th, and a maid in Annie again in 8th.
  15. My favorite bible verse is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not parish, buy have everlasting life.” (KJV)
  16. I do not like roaches of any kind. Again, I’m not afraid of them but I will hunt them down to kill them if I see one.
